It is with sadness that ICCHNR have received the news of the death of Dr Shirley Stinson in June 2020 after a long illness. Shirley had a huge influence on nursing and nursing education and research, and was inspirational in the founding of ICCHNR. She, with her colleague Karen Mills, organised the first ICCHNR conference in Edmonton, Alberta in 1993. Shirley was a life-long friend of Professor Lisbeth Hockey and it was following the event in 1993 that Lisbeth went on to found ICCHNR as a UK charity.
Shirley was a great support throughout her life to ICCHNR and was delighted when the 2011 international symposium was held once again in Edmonton, Alberta.
Shirley was honoured many times but of great importance to Shirley and to nursing was the Order of Canada.
