The
Mary McClymont Fund
Criteria for applicants
Purpose
The Mary McClymont Fund was established in recognition
of Mary McClymont’s contribution to community
nursing research and education. Mary had particular
interests around community nursing in Africa and health
visiting for older people. One of her major contribution
s was to the council for Education and Training of
Health Visitors (CETHV) and in particular to the Principles
of Health Visiting which have remained largely unchanged
since 1977. To reflect this, ICCHNR is offering small
bursaries up to a maximum of £500 to enable community
nurses to either:
- Attend a conference
- Undertake a short course
- Create some dedicated time to undertake preparation
for a research project such as a literature review
or a grant proposal.
Criteria
The trustees welcome applications from community nurses
from any part of the world, especially from Africa
who fulfil the following criteria:
The applicant is a practising registered community
nurse and can provide evidence of registration in their
country
Provides a strong rationale as to why the funding
is not available elsewhere
Demonstrates how the proposed work will contribute
to the public health of older people in their locality
Show how the proposed work can be completed within
12 months of receiving the bursary
It is a requirement of the trustees that successful
applicants provide a report of their work on the completion
of the project and make the work public through diverse
means of dissemination, including publication. The
Mary McClymont Fund should be acknowledged in any such
public dissemination.
